Wholesale food distributors are those who act as sales brokers between manufacturers and merchants, or in certain cases, individual customers. Generally, a wholesale food distributor operates out of a warehouse or food storage facility. There is a vast array of food products distributed each day by wholesale suppliers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and these include dairy and meat products,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], vegetables and fruit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], seafood, frozen goods, and confectionery. Wholesale food distributors who specialize in certain items can also be found in today's marketplace. Merchant wholesalers usually deal in grocery products, while systems distributors typically specialize in items such as spices, seasonings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], coffee and tea. There are also specialty wholesalers who focus on the distribution of dairy products or poultry.

Maintaining a Successful Business Relationship
Since most food items are perishable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a good rapport and synergy is essential between business owners and wholesale food distributors in order for them to work together effectively. There are many facets to running a successful wholesale food distribution business, and at times complicated problems can arise. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], many individuals are motivated to stay in this line of work as the continual demand for food gives one a certain degree of job security.
Wholesale food distributors focus on marketing and distributing foods that will ultimately result in increased profits for wholesalers and retailers. If this is accomplished, most customers will return again to do business with the distributor and a professional relationship will be formed. Negotiating transactions that will offer benefits to both the distributor and the wholesaler is vital to the success of this relationship.
As previously mentioned,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], wholesale food distributors generally operate from a warehouse and do not usually conduct business with walk in customers, as displays of their products are not always readily available. Most clients arrange for an appointment at which time the wholesaler will offer a full presentation of the foods they can provide. Typically,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], clients are offered various processing options for their bulk orders. The wholesaler usually handles these functions, which include the cutting and packaging,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and even seasoning of the items required to fill the order. In addition,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if the customer prefers, the food products can be purchased without any processing. The latter is common with vendors who prefer to process and package their own foods,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], either to cut costs or because they have their own unique way of marketing their product and for this reason prefer to complete the processing in-house.

Great Managers will implement monthly one-to-ones with the individual to discuss and amend their improvement plan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
So let’s take a simple example…
Great Managers strive for ‘outcomes’.
How will the difference be measured and monitored?
There are numerous skills to being a Manager…communicating, delegating,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], controlling, co-coordinating, staff management, public speaking,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], decision making, managing meetings…and I could list many,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], many more.
What difference will the review make?
How will we know if the progress is successful?
Outputs being…the actual written performance review, the staff members rating and future development needs, the following years objectives.
And no doubt some of those Managers you worked for were great and some should…well let’s just say…should never have been appointed Managers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Many Managers at this time of year are thinking, planning, organising, controlling and communicating the staff annual performance review.
I shall assume that the majority of us have worked for someone (i.e. a Manager).
Great Managers plan for ‘outcomes’,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The Great Manager will be encouraging the individual to strive for major change in their performance (the ‘outcome’) as a result of the performance review.
Many Managers stop there,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. That’s it. It’s over and done with. The review is typed up. The staff member has agreed with their written performance review and it gets filed away. Now we can carry on with our day jobs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Give yourself every opportunity to succeed as a Manager and start thinking about ‘outcomes’.
So the inputs may be…the individuals previous achievements, feedback from customers and peers, any development undertaken,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], objectives, written evidence of praise…
They take ‘inputs’ (i.e. what they do, what action taken) and ‘outputs’ (i.e. the effect of the action, the product) and create outcomes (i.e. the intended result, the performance or service targeted).
Great Managers organize themselves and the staff member to have the time to develop their learning, maybe go on some self-improvement courses.
Author&#039,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych];s Bio:
Great Managers will work with the individual and put in place a plan to enable the individual to ‘grow’ in their role,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Great Managers implement the right and appropriate controls so the ‘outcomes’ are delivered.
Great Managers organize themselves and others to produce ‘outcomes’.
Great Managers communicate and discuss the future ‘outcomes’.
Great Managers not only excel at some of the above skills but they fundamentally know the difference between ‘inputs’, ‘outputs’ and ‘outcomes’.
But what makes a Great Manager?
What would we like the staff member to do differently?
In fact,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], before the performance review Great Managers will have answers to the following questions:
How will the department or company benefit?
What controls should be in place to monitor progress?
Great Managers take time out and think about ‘outcomes’.
Great Managers will ‘paint a picture’ of the future for the individual.

Finally, I found business advice when I least expected it, through a #1 New York Times Best Seller,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "The Love Dare," a book by Stephen and Alex Kendrick with Lawrence Kimbrough, from the hit movie,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Fireproof. It's about re-establishing a loving relationship when you stop expecting the other person to do something. Instead, you start doing what you want to have happen. Then over time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the other person makes it happen, too. We watched the movie at least two years ago,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then ordered the book right away. I do admit, we haven't finished reading it--which could explain why our roller coaster ride of a lifetime is so bumpy at times. Like most of us, we have much to learn and room to grow.
2.) Practice Patience &amp,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; Kindness
When love becomes a firm handshake,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's time to rekindle. When you're in business mode, it's best not to be in lovers mode. When in lover's mode, it's best not to be in business mode. Yet, it's so easy to get all mixed up. We must remember we love each other and be pleasant towards one another while knowing the website proposal is due tomorrow morning for our client and it hasn't been finished--all at the same time. Express what you want and need, but do it in a kind way. In a love and business relationship, it's easy to forget to be nice sometimes because you're comfortable with who you married and stressed because these are new experiences with each other. It's the little acts of kindness that matter, even as simple as being patient enough not to talk over your partner's words. Believe it or not, "please" and "thank you" may often be overlooked--say them often and mean it.
3,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].) Separate Your Biz vs. Personal Life
A neck rub in the middle of a follow-up call and scheduling an appointment with a client is NOT necessarily appreciated. Or sending a Facebook message ("real quick") in the middle of the day to a family member or friend is not justified just because you can. At the very least, not while you're still practicing business discipline before you've received all the profits you've ever wanted. When it's time to do business, it's time to do business. And when it's time to do the dishes, it's time to do the dishes. Structure your day accordingly. And talking about a new way to organize the goals and tasks of the business during the most intimate times you may spend together is not appreciated either--especially when you've decided to actually not work the business for once. Turn off your mind to be turned on in the bedroom. When it's time to um... well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's time to...
I'm sure with time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this list will get longer. But that will only benefit our business and marital relationship for the better, as well hopefully, the next set of lovers who become business partners. Every bit helps for a successful marriage and a successful business.
Author's Bio:
If you're a husband or wife thinking of going into business with your other half, or you already are in business with each other, know this: we're greater in numbers and it's great to count on others who know what it's like to do what you're doing. We host a monthly business owner networking event focused on a new business topic each time as we share our experiences and tips in business. Ask us how you can attend this free, unique event in Tucson that's unlike any other. Visit us at BEssential and review our "Promotions and Events" area for the "Small Business Breakfast Club." We look forward to a mutually beneficial business relationship. Even husbands and wives in business together can BE... empowered.
PowerUp - Why didn't anyone ever tell me how insane it was to go into business with my husband? Or for that matter, for him desiring to go into business with me for over 10 years? True, we're both crazy. What I'm finding so far is that it's what makes the journey that much more interesting and rewarding, actually. On a good day, that is. And such good advice is hard to find. For those of us who do decide to go into business together as husband and wife, it does not come plentiful enough! I've only come across less than a handful of helpful, credible sources.
A second, indirect source was while working through our way through Rich Dad's Entrepreneurship Coaching program. Although there was not any specific mention of a helpful direction for married partners to grow their business towards, there was a specific concept which struck me back to sanity. There is no room for emotions in business--a tough concept to grasp, indeed. Our emotions are supposed to remain freestanding from our business development, daily operations and of course, cash flow. No emotional attachments whatsoever. For women, that may be a more difficult adjustment to make. Don't let your emotions make your business decisions for you.
1.) Know Who's Boss & Accept It's Still Not You
You may have left your employment to become your own boss, but it's not necessarily the case in reality. Let me explain. Some believe a perfect marriage is everything 50/50, right? Wrong. At times it's 60/40 or 80/20. But that doesn't mean one spouse suddenly steps up as the boss that everyone talks about behind their back. It simply means someone does take the lead at certain times or projects. Are they the boss at that time? Still, not even close. It means there's some trust between each other that helps holding one another accountable for what needs to be done. There's no one else around to hold you two accountable for the business, unless of course, you have a Rottweiler-Pit Bull named Zoey Hannah like we do, who's our mediator--at times growling at the one doing most of the arguing. Moments like this remind us to keep our frustration in check and remember why we went into business together in the first place.

So,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], speaking on behalf of my personal experience building a business together with my husband and with the support from the three sources I mentioned above, here are the 3 most crucial concepts to consider when couples go into business together:
One is Meg Cadoux Hirshberg's column,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "Balancing Acts" in Inc. magazine. Her helpful advice for married business partners ranges from a variety of topics such as the hardships of a marriage when starting a business, what happens when one spouse chooses business over family, and the challenges of loving, honoring and reporting to your spouse. It's nice to hear from a woman's perspective how to handle the ups and downs of a business with your partner.

The key is to be open-minded and proactive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. No matter how small the effort when multiplied by millions of people the results can be significant.
1. When looking for new electronic equipment, consider ENERGY STAR qualified models. The average home has two televisions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], three telephones and at least one DVD player. If they are all ENERGY STAR qualified models we would be saving over 25 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. This is equal to the emissions of over two million cars. The ENERGY STAR website even has a calculator on it to show you the difference between for example your present refrigerator’s energy use and that of an ENERGY STAR model. If you have a unit purchased before 1990 a replacement unit could save you $145 per year. If your model was purchased prior to 1980 the savings can be as much as $201 per year.
2. Power supplies or adapters which convert the energy from your wall to the laptop, digital camera and cordless phone account for 11% of the national electric bill. When you are not using the devices for which these adapters were made simply unplug them from the wall.
3. Invest in a Smart Strip Power Strip or Watt stopper Plug Load Control. They are the latest in surge protectors. They save electricity by stopping energy before it goes to phantom energy users. The units can hold between seven to ten plugs. The first outlet on the strip receives constant power and keeps all the programming information so you don’t have to reset the clocks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc. on your TV and computer each time the switch is turned back on.
4,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Install a programmable thermostat.
5,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Install weather stripping around leaky doors and windows.
6,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Apply caulking around your vents.
7. Add insulation to your roof
8. Put a clean air filter in our furnace,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
9. Use ceiling fans instead of your furnace fan to keep air moving. They use less energy
10. Have your heating and cooling system checked annually by a qualified service technician to make sure everything is in working order,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
11. Keep furniture, carpets and draperies away from your vents and grills inside your home.
12. When not at home,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], keep western facing window drapes and shades drawn.
To help save on your energy costs and the preservation on the environment there are several practices you can put into place:
The website Energy Star estimates that the average home spends approximately $2,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],200 on energy bills each year. Residential electricity use by consumer electronic products accounts for around 15 % of your household electrical usage. Even when you’re VCR or DVD player,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], computer or printers and scanners are turned off, power is needed to keep the added little features such as the clock displays, remote controls and battery re-chargers going. This bonus features could be costing you up to $100 per year in your energy costs.

No. 1: Tell me about yourself.
No. 2: Why do you want to work here?
Of all the subjects we cover in career management and job search, the one that seems to cause clients the most anxiety is INTERVIEWING. To ease my clients’ concerns, I often simplify the topic by reducing it to a handful of basic elements.
When it comes to “the salary question,” you want the other guy to make the first move. Do thorough research in advance to determine what the likely salary range is. Make it clear that the job is not all about pay. Say that you’d be happy to discuss compensation once a mutual interest has been established, and get back to discussing your relevant accomplishments. Tell the interviewer that you want the opportunity,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that you expect the company will make a fair salary offer. This doesn’t mean you will necessarily accept that offer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but it means they will have to “draw” first. Once you receive the initial offer, always negotiate up from there.
When you boil it all down, job interviews are made-up of only five statements from the interviewer, which include four questions and one sentence. Sure, you’ll be asked more than five questions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but they ALL seem to be variations on the items listed below. Each of these questions has to be “nailed” in a job interview, and each has a different strategy to answer it. “Winging it” just won’t do!
No. 5: Don’t call us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we’ll call you.
Take an active stance, not a passive one. Be sure to discuss “next steps” before you leave the interview. Ask the interviewer directly how your qualifications compare to those of the other candidates. Display your excitement about the job and the challenges it poses. Let the interviewer know how and when you’ll be back in touch. Don’t leave all the power in the hands of the interviewer; this should be a mutual decision-making process.
This is the open-ended question that on the surface seems harmless, yet how you answer it may spell the difference between landing a job, or being pushed out the door to seek another position. You have to know yourself first – your strengths, your weaknesses, your likes, your talents and your goals. The best way to answer this question is to give your “Positioning Statement,” which is a one-paragraph summary of your career background, strengths, expertise and objective.
No. 4: What are your salary expectations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
Here is some simple,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sound advice for responding to the five basic interview questions:
This question seeks to determine if you know anything about the job and company. The goal here is to connect your talents, contributions and attributes to the employer’s needs, problems and challenges. You can only do this if you’ve done your homework, and have gathered all the necessary research. The best way to respond is to tell several relevant Accomplishment Stories that prove you have the right kind of experience for the job.
No. 3: What’s wrong with you?
The more practiced and articulate you are in responding to these five items, the better chance you’ll have of landing the job. But even if you don’t get the offer, you’ll still be well-prepared for the NEXT interview!
Of course, the interviewer will not actually use these words. She might couch the question in more polite terms, but what she is actually trying to find out is why you’re unemployed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or underemployed,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or why you’ve had so many jobs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc. As the candidate, you need to acknowledge these sorts of career challenges in advance; then prepare and practice your responses. "The Brainwashing of the American Investor" teaches you about old-school investing without gimmicks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], derivatives, incomprehensible "modern portfolio theory" techniques, funds of funds, or astrological charts.
MCIM is a disciplined,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], common sense approach to investing without needless speculation. It is an approach that semi-automatically takes your profits out of bubbling markets, and for all the right reasons, and then re-enters weaker markets systematically in preparation for the inevitable "next" rally.
Author's Bio:
The first time through "Brainwashing" you'll learn about Wall Street, and why they would prefer that you didn't read the book in the first place. Your eyes will be opened by the simplicity of the security selection process, the no frills approach to sensible asset allocation, rational profit-taking, and the ease with which you can increase your annual investment income in a reduced risk environment.
The second time through, you'll be taking notes, establishing some simple spreadsheets, looking at and correcting the weaknesses in your current portfolio,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and setting off in a new direction that will have you tuned in to what the market cycle offers --- for fun,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], for profit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], forever.
The Market Cycle Investment Management methodology helped navigate thousands of "Brainwashing" book readers around and through the three major financial crises (stock market meltdowns) of the author's lifetime: the "Crash of 1987",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the "Dot-Com Bubble", and the recent MPT/ Government orchestrated "Financial Crisis".
Author and former private investment manager Steve Selengut developed the Market Cycle Investment Management (MCIM) methodology in 1970, way ahead of the Wall Street product development curve that has now succeeded in bringing the most speculative and risky ventures on the planet into your investment portfolio.
"The Brainwashing of The American Investor",[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], now in its second edition, provides you with a proven methodology for successful personal investment portfolio management. Step by step instructions for asset allocation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], security selection universe creation, diversification,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and profit taking are presented in an anecdotal manner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], based on the author's hands-on professional experiences.

Now I am aware that interviewing in itself is a stressful process but well thought out or rehearsed standard answers are not what I am looking for at all. Why would I ask someone who is looking for a paying job to work for free? The answer is really very simple. My goal is to find someone that thinks quickly on his or feet. I am looking for someone who can think creatively unimpeded by conventional constraints. Let’s be clear my intent is not to hire slave labor. I am going to hire and compensate the new employee fairly. But again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I am looking for that individual who is not just willing to accept the status quo. The individual should be open to doing different things and doing things differently.

I am a small business owner and sometimes just to break the monotony in the hiring regiment I will ask a prospective interviewee if they would work for free. I do this because I understand that the standard resume and usual interview questions are predictable. So, when I pitch this curve ball and inquire “would you work for free” I am trying to see if the prospect can think out of the box.
This is but one example of many that I have read about. Focusing on the value of finding new ideas and acting on them is truly Thinking Outside of the Box. Here is a last thought. Has anyone ever heard of P Diddy, alias Shawn Puffy Combs or Bad Boy Entertainment? This is another example of an individual who was willing to work for a record label “free”. Wow! look at him now.
Several months ago I read a book by Russell Simmons the owner of Phat Pharm,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Def Jam and a multitude of other businesses. The book left quite an impression on me. The thinking out of the box concept is one of the impressions I now use to benefit my own business model. Russell mentions in his book that many people come to him for advice and insight into building successful ventures. They want to know his secret. How did he begin, what did he do,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], can they get a hook-up? Well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he tells this story. A young woman who was seeking his advice and insight came to him with this very same request. This woman however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], had a different and unusual outlook on how she could avail herself of Mr. Simmons knowledge. She came with a plan. She offered to work full-time for his organization having all the same responsibilities of a paid employee but she would “work for free”. The young woman excelled at everything she was given. She worked and learned everything she needed to know about the business better than those who were paid a salary. Today she is recognized as an intricate, irreplaceable part of the Phat Pharm Organization and needless to say is making major bank. She achieved all of this because she was willing to “work for free” and was thinking outside of the box.

As with anything in life – it’s best to learn to drive from someone who can actually drive. This is also true for life coaching. If you want expat life coaching, make sure that your life coach has been through the same! This would enable them to serve as a guide during this process by directing you to places or people who could be of assistance.
For anybody coming from a different country,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hoping to make a living in unknown circumstances,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], life can often be tough. It is often challenging as there are so many regulations, lifestyle changes and cultural differences that they need to adapt to. Most of the time the whole country’s modus operandi is different to that to which they are accustomed to. Two out of three times, even the weather is different…!
In its simplest form it could be described as a process of asking: “Where are you now? Where do you want to be? How can we help you to get there?”
So many new things to learn – currency, banking regulations, tax, road signs and rules, even the products in the supermarket might be packaged differently or known by a different name! No wonder most expats live with high levels of anxiety, especially if they are new in the country.
The life coach almost comes in alongside the individual – metaphorically speaking – and helps them to be clear about what they want, set new goals and stay true to their values while pursuing their dreams.
On the practical side of things, the course offers a range of relevant information and links, from interviews with experts on permit and visa regulations, through to tax and national insurance, all the way to moving logistics and some good recommendations of service suppliers.
One of the best ways to help people find direction and move toward the life they really want is expat life coaching.
So, if you are an expat wondering why you are here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how to optimise your opportunities in a foreign country or just need some practical advice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], contact LEAP in Life Coaching and Training or enrol in the “UK survival” training!

At LEAP in Life coaching and training we have coaches who are expats themselves. They are specifically qualified to work with a diverse group of people from various backgrounds. And as they have also been through the process of settling into a different country and culture, they are ideally suited to help you discover your reason for being here.
LEAP in Life coaching and training, not only offers one to one coaching, we have also created an online e-learning course “UK survival” to help you as an expat to quickly get up and running in your resident country (if you are new),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or to re-establish your roots and reasons for being here (if you have been in the UK for a couple of years).
Expat Coaching
This is ideal for expats who want to find their feet as well as get direction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], whether you are new in the country, or in the cycle of considering leaving again.
This anxiety is fuelled even more by the constant feeling that they are out of place… Not only do they have to learn how to survive physically in a foreign place, but also have to face emotional issues, such as redefining or reconfirming their identity. Many also face spiritual issues, especially in countries where the main religion or value systems are unlike their own.
The “UK Survival” e-learning course consists of two parts – emotional challenges and practical challenges. On the emotional side of things,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the course will help you with issues such as identity,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], integration into the community and finding your reason for being here.
The most important question to always keep in mind is: why are you here?
Why are you here,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]?
This is the single most important questions anybody can ever ask themselves. Usually this refers to your purpose in life. However, when you ask this question of somebody who is an expat in another country, they mostly think that you are referring to them living and working in a foreign country. To ex-patriots or expats (as they are commonly known) this question is just as important to think about as it is to think about their purpose in life.
Author's Bio:
No wonder that many expats go through a process of self-discovery shortly after settling in a new country, and then again a few years later after the mad rush of settling down has subsided slightly. This process can at times be extremely hard, especially if you feel alone. Struggling with these and other issues may make you wonder whether you’ve made the right decision in moving and whether you are still heading in the right direction.
Of course you will have a million questions such as how to survive, how to make friends, how to open a bank account, what about your visa, what if you loose your job, what if you can’t find a job,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how do you buy a house, will your children adapt in the country, should you stay or go back home, what about your family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc.
A life coach who is an expat themselves would be able to ask the right questions to help you find your way.
If you can honestly answer this question and be satisfied with your answer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you’ll find peace and happiness wherever you are!

Very often this type of exchange will play out through a phase of high passion or emotion. It will sound to those not involved, like two or more people squabbling, with raised voices, or similar.
Though what you have to say is probably important to you and what you do in the workplace, will it also resonate similarly in the mind of your audience? So before you open dialogue,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], think a little about what it is you have to say -- the consequences, the impression it may make, operational impact. A little pro-activity is always beneficial.
There's a saying: 'while the foolish talks, the wiseman listens'. This is worth remembering during any communication exchange - even more so in group settings.
Another common mistake you must keep in mind to improve communication skills face-to-face, is the use of link and or colloquial terms like, 'you know', 'it's like', 'er',[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], etc. These expressions will often be heard after every sentence uttered. In a social setting away from work, perhaps it is tolerable; however, in the workplace, and specifically in meetings or presentations, it is a NO NO. Don't do it!
So communication then is entirely instinctive, and moreover, vital. It becomes even more vital in the workplace where those of us who are fortunate enough,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], spend so much of our time. Miscommunication in this environment is an irritant at best, and at worse - and at an operational level, potentially catastrophic.
Most importantly, SMILE. A happy disposition improves communication 10 fold.
The truth is, if you're not prepared to listen, then there's little point in attempting to communicate or trying to improve communication skills, because you will not be doing so.
In a group setting, this technique is even more effective.
If you speak with your arms folded, you will send out a message of unease, defence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even agression.
It is sound practice to be alert to the 'energy' of and around your audience. By that, I mean try and consciously gauge the mood and emotion of your target audience. Consider whether the timing is right and if the environment is appropriate. Ask yourself, are you the 'ideal' messenger?
Submliminal communication happens naturally. This will be in the form of body language,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It is important to be aware of this vital information channel when intending to communicate directly.
These two mediums require reader interpretation, and where a tone of voice can illustrate a mood or sentiment, no such option is available using e-mails, texts, and other digital messengers. Get it wrong (and this is not uncommon) and unwanted issues could arise.
So here's your first challenge in 2012: where once you would make a grab for your digital device, instead choose to pick up the telephone, or if possible walk the ten metres from your desk and engage using what God has blessed you with - a voice!
THE MECHANICS:
At whatever level of seniority you are, or whatever it is you do, it is a good idea to not only accept that communication and your efforts to improve communication skills are important,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that communication should also be viewed like mastering a new language -- that is, taken seriously!

From the moment we let out a shriek following a slap by a maternity nurse, at that very moment, we communicated.
Some of us have a natural tendency to speak quickly; not a good idea if you're attempting to convey a critical message accurately and with clarity. Slow down, be a little more deliberate, and another vital tip -- PAUSE. This will give the listener the opportunity to fully comprehend,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], absorb, and hopefully retain what was said prior to your strategic moment of silence.
If you and your target are sitting down, unless your audience is behind a desk, sit at a 90 degree angle to them, this encourages good eye to eye contact, while ensuring an 'open space' as opposed to a closed one - if, for example, you were to sit directly opposite. The latter is a little more confrontational.
Good communication is founded on a simple principle. When one person talks, the other person listens. But how often do you find yourself getting so wrapped up with what you're trying to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that you ears are muted to what the other person is attempting to say in return. This is bad communication, and if you can identify with it, you're a bad communicator.
REFLECTION:
Now that we have established that you are capable of looking another person cheerfully in the eye, ready to begin a conversation, let us consider how you should do so.
If your audience is sitting down, lower yourself to their level. This removes any sense of threat or superiority.
In many cases, technology originally designed to aid us and simplify processes and activities we once found challenging or irksome, have become the cause of much miscommuncation. Why? Because the most popular mediums used -- e-mails and texting -- have now seemingly at times, caught up with what comes naturally to the vast majority of us; SPEAKING!
BODY LANGUAGE:
If this concept is new to you, it is likely that your Human Resources department will be acutely aware of it; as such, it would be wise to seek out a member of the HR team and find out more. It will be well worth it!
You will know about the hands in pockets from your school days,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so I don't need to elaborate too much here.
Where possible, mimic body language, always be presentable and prepared, and offer plenty of 'cheerful' eye to eye contact, whether one-to-one, or one-to-many. Your audience will need to feel that what you have to say matters to them, and they mattter to you.
If in a presentation or group setting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and your audience is sitting while you are standing, constant movement from right to left will become a visible distraction. You want your audience to focus on what you're saying,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and not how your dress flows in the gentle breeze, or that odd gate of a walk that you didn't know you possessed.
You may or may not be familiar with this term "active listening." Wikipedia's definition is as follows: Active listening is a communication technique that requires the listener to understand, interpret,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and evaluate what they hear. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation, and fostering understanding.
Here are some examples:

5,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Be discourteous
